Khajuraho 2017: Exploring Erotica in 'Anti-Romeo' India

Khajuraho, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, is now a quiet village. I visited MP last month for a destination wedding shoot with 'We Don't Say Cheese', a team of wedding photographers.
Having worked with them previously, I knew this was going to be a fun trip. The interesting part being that I got to visit Khajuraho temples especially when the definition of sexuality is becoming more and more limited these days, not to forget "The Anti-Romeo Squad". I was exploring these temple which are known for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures. I repeat, erotic sculptures (!)
I thought of writing this blog when I saw this news the other day that states "Bajrang Dal Wants Kamasutra Booklets Banned At Temple That's Visual Testimony To India's Erotic Past" So, as the title suggests, Bajrang dal members says that Kamasutra can't be sold in "sacred premises", which offcourse is one of UNESCO world heritage site depicting India's culture and tradition.
The entry for the temple area, off course came with extra charges for our cameras and gadgets, because Photographers!! Khajuraho Temples are a treat to the eye.
Conjuring up images of timeless beauty and serenity and not giving a shit of whatever is said about Khajuraho Temples. It's a place one MUST visit in a lifetime. You see? These are not just for depictions of making out in the medieval India but these sculptures on the outer walls of the temples are purely dedicated to the art of love as depicted in the Kamasutra which is made immortal through these beautiful carvings.
